APF in Portugal brings their expertise into the ICEX project
The Association for Family Planning (APF) was founded in 1967 and its mission is to help people make free and conscious choices in their sexual and reproductive lives and to promote positive parenting.
APF is the Portuguese member of IPPF – International Planned Parenthood Federation, the federation that brings together family planning associations in almost every country in the world.
“We are a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) with Health Purposes, recognized as a Non-Governmental Organization for Development (NGDO) and as a Family Association, and a Training Centre accredited by the General Directorate of Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT) and by the Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuing Training for Professors (CCPFP). “
“In conclusion our activities include education for sexual and reproductive health, advocacy and intervention in citizenship, provision of services in the areas of Sexual Education, Rights and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), training and support for technicians and production and dissemination of knowledge.”
The APF’s contribution to the ICEX project leverages their expertise in sexual and reproductive education. “We are dedicated to closely collaborating with the migrant population, employing innovative strategies to effectively engage with these communities. Our approaches are crafted with a deep understanding of the specific needs and characteristics of our target audience. We are committed to working in a positive and innovative manner, always prioritizing informed choices and respecting individuals’ timing.” says Sónia Duarte Lopes, the team coordinator.
